kick off yo shoes

hey all! with new years coming up, i just wanted to talk a lil about 2019!

in 2019 god has…

taught me how to find joy in the little things!

shown me how to cherish god centered friendships because that’s how he’s been speaking to me lately!

shown me my calling!

given me mentors and people to minister to!

given me leadership abilities && spaces to do that!

these are just a few things that god has done for me this year. yes, these are mountain top moments but i have walked through some valley moments this year also. i talked a lil bit about moses and his story on my instagram but i’m just going to talk about it a lil more. God chose to speak to moses by a burning bush. at this time burning bushes were common, but this particular bush was never consumed by it. moses NOTICED that simple detail and went to check it out. what moses didn’t know was he was about to be getting a specific call from god through the bush. i don’t want to get all history nerd on ya’ll but during those times promotion was important. whenever someone was getting promoted they would take off their shoes as symbolism. this meant that they would not drag the residue of the past into the future. in exodus 3:5 god says to moses, “do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place you are standing is holy ground.” moses does what was asked of him and his calling was given. now don’t take this the wrong way… God is NOT asking you to just walk around with no shoes all the time. that would not be a good smelling world to live in, but he is asking you to not look back. another way i think of this is nowadays, taking off your shoes randomly isn’t a very normal thing to do. growth requires awkwardness, growth requires stepping out of your comfort zone. remember: he has never forsaken you and never will! trust in that! 2020, you have great things in store and i pray that we walk forward into God’s abundant grace and follow Him wholeheartedly!!

cheers to new beginnings! love you all && happy new year!
